PRP Skin Restoration

The PRP facial, also known as the “Vampire Facial” is an effective and natural procedure used to promote new collagen and tissue regeneration for treating fine lines, deep wrinkles, acne scarring, and loss of volume. PRP, refers to the platelet-rich plasma which is found in the blood and produced through centrifugation (a separation of PRP from the blood). This results in a self-made serum of your own platelets which is used in combination with the microneedling therapy. The PRP therapy will revitalize the skin and give it a more radiant appearance.

Why PRP?

The reason PRP is used is because it has been scientifically proven to help the body heal by using the patient’s own growth factors to stimulate a healing response within the targeted tissue. Sports medicine doctors have been using PRP for years to help athletes recover faster after sports injuries (think of your skin as the “injury” and PRP as the “medicine” to force that area into a recovery phase).

What areas can be treated with PRP microneedling?

PRP microneedling can be used on the full face as well as on the neck and decolletage.

PRP is used for the treatment of thinning hair as well. See our Hair Restoration page.

How is the PRP delivered into my skin?

The PRP is used as a serum which is applied to the face and micro-needled into the skin. We use the FDA approved Eclipse Microneedling Pen which creates small injuries to the skin into order to deliver PRP or Hyaluronic acid into the dermal level.

How many treatments do I require?

This can be discussed at your complimentary consultation. Depending on the severity of the area, you may require up to three treatments to see the best results. The typical client will experience an improved appearance after a single session.

How soon will I see results and how long do the results last?

You will notice results within one full skin cycle (around 30 days). Improvements continue to be seen in the months afterwards and the previous condition does not return unless new trauma to the skin (acne, scarring, etc) occurs thereafter.

What results can be expected with PRP microneedling?

Patients who have treated their skin with PRP microneedling benefit from improved overall skin appearance as well as a reduction in fine lines, pore size, dark circles, and scarring.

PRP is also used to treat thinning hair (See our Hair Restoration page).

What can I expect at my PRP facial treatment?

Upon arrival, your face will be cleansed of any makeup or environmental debris. Next, a topical numbing agent will be applied to the face. During this time, a small blood sample will be taken (just as it would in routine blood work). Over the next 10-15 minutes, our technician puts the blood sample into a machine which separates the PRP from your red blood cells. Fun fact: the colour of PRP is golden in colour, not red like blood is. Once the PRP is obtained, your numbing cream will be removed and the technician will begin microneedling the area of concern with your PRP. After the treatment is completed, the rest of your PRP is used to create a mask on the skin which is recommended to be left on for a few hours after you have left. (Plan to have the night off to relax in order to keep the PRP on the skin for as long as possible for even more benefits). The next day your skin will appear pink in colour, such as it would after some sun exposure.

The Difference ELEGANCE Makes

At Elegance Medical Aesthetics, we believe that each patient is unique, requiring his or her own treatment that is different from anyone else’s.  So much of the cosmetic industry is “over-hyped”  with clever marketing lingo that creates a confusing mess of services that may or may not be suitable for you.

That is why we take a standard medical approach with each patient. When you come in with something you’d like to change about your appearance, our first step is determining a proper treatment plan for you. This is done with a thorough consultation so we can listen to your goals and understand who you are as a person.
