About Belkyra
Just like Botox is a brand name for a wrinkle reduction product, Belkyra is the brand name for one type of fat dissolving injection. Known as Kybella in the USA, Belkyra is made by Allergan – the same company which makes Botox and Juvederm.
Belkyra is a non-surgical option that is meant to take the place of surgery such as liposuction. Results from Belkyra are stable as long as the patient does not experience weight gain. Although the most common area for Belkyra to be administered is in the double chin, the substance can also be used in other areas, such as under the buttocks or between the breast and armpit!
Is BELKYRA treatment painful?
Most clients report that the procedure is a bit unpleasant. Between 20 to 40 injections is standard. Topical numbing cream can be applied to reduce the discomfort.
What about the after the treatment?
Once treatment is completed, the area swells up quite a bit as BELKYRA is triggering a defence mechanism meant to metabolize the fat in the body. BELKYRA aims to dissolve the targeted fat permanently – thus, the more fat in the area, the more swelling will occur. This swelling usually peaks around 24 hours and will dissipate in the weeks following. A patient may also experience mild tenderness (such like a bruise would feel) in the weeks following your BELKYRA treatment. Optimal results are seen in 4-6 weeks post-treatment.
How long does it take?
Each BELKYRA treatment take 20 to 40 minutes per session. Following the session, the fat is dissolved over the course of 6 weeks. Typical clients will require 2 to 4 treatments depending on the amount of fat in the treatment area.
How long do results last?
The results of BELKYRA are permanent! This treatment is meant to replace surgical options such as liposuction. If the weight of the patient is stable, you should not see a return of the fat in the treatment area.
What is the cost of BELKYRA?
The cost of your BELKYRA treatment will depend on the size of the fat pocket that you wish to target. On average, a patient will require 2 vials each treatment.
